I arrived at True North Health Center this afternoon yesterday. I did bring quite a few things with me, as I felt I was not limited. I do wish I had brought a few things to decorate the room, as being here over 30 days, a picture or two and some other organizational items might have been nice.
Overall, the room is quite spacious. I got a large room with a private bath. It has a king-size Sleep Number bed, a comfortable electronic reclining chair, a desk, and a dresser. There is a large courtyard with lounge chairs and a covered area with other comfortable chairs to spend time outside.
As a preventative measure, I was asked to wear a mask and watch the classes from my room until cleared by the doctor. This morning, at my intake appointment with the doctor, he told me that I could remove my mask now if I wanted or wait two more days. Since I have been traveling the last two weeks and was around lots of people at a week-long conference, I am waiting for the additional time to be on the safe side.
I was cleared to start fasting today at the appointment, so it is officially day one. Twice a day, someone comes to your room to check your vitals, ask how you are doing, and rate your energy level. Every morning I report on how much water I’ve had and my weight. Sometime in the day housekeeping comes to clean the room. If you need laundry done, you leave the laundry bag at the door by 8 AM, and it is returned by the end of the day.
I am nearing the end of 24 hours without food. I can say I do feel moderately hungry and I have to remind myself that no food will be coming. Seeing food online or on television is a bit bothersome, but not too bad. I remind myself to drink water, as I must drink at least 40 ounces but no more than 120 ounces daily. Distilled water is generously provided in 3 ways: room temperature, hot, or cold.
Check back to see what the remaining 20 days are like, and remember, do not attempt any fast over 3 days without medical supervision.
