Day 21 of Water Only Fasting

If you have been following along, you know this is my last day of fasting. In the middle of the fast, I forgot what day I was on, but I am acutely aware at this stage. I am ready to be done and get back home. They switched me to a homemade veggie broth the last few days, as my energy had been too low. The broth increased my energy to a 4 out of 10, but it stimulated my appetite. So now I am hungry. It’s a trade-off. The broth does not break the fast, so I am grateful.

This morning, my blood pressure was 88/60. Sounds low, right? It is only because so many people I spoke with as a pharmacist had blood pressures above 140/90 and were told by their doctors that it was all right. Below is a short video link on the current blood pressure guidelines. Dr. Wise, the rounding provider this morning, said my blood pressure was what they expected. I am not dizzy or lightheaded, so it is just fine.

When they study tribal people in different countries eating their native diet, their blood pressure is below 120/80, regardless of age. They say as you age, your blood pressure will increase as your vasculature loses elasticity, a natural progression of aging. This is not true. It is true for those who eat a Western diet of processed foods. In the U.S., nearly 50% of the adult population has hypertension.

Many people come here to achieve blood pressure control and stop taking their blood pressure medications. Below is a short video on the science behind that.

  1. This is all very good news to me Cheryl; First, that you are just about finished and ready to go home. Second, that you achieved this momentous goal and learned so much. I would love to talk to you about it more. I’ve been reading your posts and keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. This is not easy but you have done it and I am so proud of you. I will be watching to see how you re-introduce foods. Love You Cheryl, Ann
