Day 8 of Water Only Fasting

Today has been a great day. I could take over my blog site, catch up on posting, wash my hair, and spend time outside reading for pleasure. This might not seem like a big deal, but everything takes extra time and effort when fasting. As a trade-off, I did skip attending the classes today, but I have no regrets.

An unexpected part of fasting is the unpleasant taste in my mouth. As we are detoxing, they do not want us to use toothpaste. I have no idea how our ancestors lived without it. I imagine the combination of fasting and no toothpaste makes for a mild metallic taste that doesn’t go away when I brush my teeth without toothpaste. Whatever the cause, it is not pleasant.

Last evening, I had an epiphany. I have had two incidents of mild burning pressure in the top middle of my chest. I also have had a few days of a random dry cough. My pharmacist knowledge kicked in. A quick computer search confirmed they are connected. I have silent reflux. Until now, I have never had heartburn or acid reflux. I have certainly talked to many patients with this diagnosis. The common home remedies are all food-related (ginger, licorice, apple cider vinegar), and that is not an option. It’s mild, and I will get past this like everything else.
